    Unique to finalToon is its new procedural image-based hatching – a non-photorealistic effect that is impossible to create in a paint program as a 2D effect due to the lack of 3D data. FinalToon can create pen-and-ink, woodcut and scratchboard style art effects by accentuating the topography with the generated cross-hatching, as artists do.

    A new form of displacment mapping called MTD™ that allows raytracing of enormous amounts of smooth displaced geometry in practical timeframes. For example, a rock wall or ocean may be displaced into ten million or more polygons using any bitmap or procedural texture, which will render in a minute or so on a modern PC.
