Mastering Maya: Advanced Digital Production
The Art of Creating Animated Shorts
3D Buzz is proud to announce the upcoming open registration for Mastering Maya: Advanced Digital Production online class. This six-month intensive course takes you on to your next step of Maya training as you experience the creation of a complete animated short using Maya 2008 and the Adobe Creative Suite.
The purpose of the course is to place the student in a focused, high-intensity environment where they will be encouraged to work hard toward perfecting their skills in 3D digital production. This course is intended for the intermediate/advanced Maya user, though there is an avenue available that makes it possible for a hardworking beginner to also reap the benefits of this curriculum. Please see the Entry-Level Training Option outlined below.
The online portion of the class will involve several different elements, including setup and display of student work through individual student web pages, bi-weekly video meetings with the instructors, work critiques from the instructors, and live office hours where students can seek direct help from their teachers. The class will also include a private online class forum environment where they can post questions, seek advice from peers, critique each others’ work, and push the creative energy of the class as a whole. The video lecture will cover the entire production process, from initial conceptualization and pre-production all the way through to compositing and editing the final render. Along the way, you’ll experience a wide range of topics including concept art and storyboards, modeling, texturing, rigging, effects, lighting, rendering, and much more! This class is designed to show you the complete process of animated short creation from start to finish. Nowhere else will you find such a complete look at the production process, captured entirely on video, combined with 3D Buzz’s quality approach to video training and unrivaled attention to detail. This series has a current topic list of 19 separate volumes, with the possibility of more being added to the list during production. These lessons are designed to introduce you to specific portions of the production process. These lessons are covered below in the Lesson Overview section.
NOTE: We understand that not all students have the time or ability to provide the dedication necessary to fully participate in on online class of this nature. Therefore, we have an option available for those students who would like to audit the class, thereby opting out of participation in the actual online class portion while still receiving the video curriculum. It is rather a list of the topics being covered and the order in which they will be presented. It is possible that new topics will be added throughout production and that these descriptions may change slightly.
