Error "Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime Error..." or crash when you install (Adobe After Effects, Encore, Premiere Pro, Production Studio, or Production Premium on Windows XP) Issue When you attempt to install Adobe After Effects, Encore, Premiere Pro, Production Studio, or Production Premium, the installation fails with a system crash or the error message, "Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime Error. This application has requested the Runtime to terminate it in an unusual way. Please contact the application support team for more information." Reason You have DLA (Drive Letter Access) software installed on your computer. Solution Do one or more of the following solutions: Solution 1: Disable the DLA service (if applicable). On some systems, the DLA service can be turned off from within the Properties settings of the drive from which you are attempting to install. To turn off the DLA service, do one of the following tasks: Turn off DLA from the disc drive context menu: Open My Computer. Right-click the disc drive from which you are attempting to install. If there is a Use With DLA option, deselect it. Click OK to apply the changes. Restart your computer. Turn off DLA from the disc drive Properties settings: Open My Computer. Right-click the disc drive from which you are attempting to install. Select Properties. Select the DLA tab. Deselect the Enable DLA On Your Drives option. Click OK to apply the changes. Restart your computer. Solution 2: Disable startup items and services. Antivirus software, firewall software, anticrash software or other applications and services that are typically loaded when Windows starts may interfere with the installation process. You can temporarily disable non-essential startup items and services by using the Windows System Configuration Utility. To disable startup items and services: Quit all applications. Choose Start > Run, type msconfig in the Open box, and then click OK. Click the Startup tab, and select Disable All. Select startup items that are essential for testing the problem. If you are unsure if an item is essential, leave it deselected. Click the Services tab, select Hide All Microsoft Services, and then select Disable All. Click OK, and then click Restart to restart Windows. When the computer has restarted, right-click to close or disable any items in the Notification Area (called the System Tray in earlier versions of Windows). Note: Restart Windows in Normal mode before launching Adobe After Effects, Encore, or Premiere Pro. Solution 3: Run the installer from a new Administrator account. Create a new Local Administrator account on the system and run the installer from the new user.
