we would like to see the finished animation

regarding -- doing a book and selling it -- why not !!!!

it is a good idea -- but you know that a lot of artist who write books -- also do a free tutorials

i am doing free tutorials whenever i find myself free and find cool tip to share ..

i did the gillette shading tutorial + chips shading

but honestly the compition is not easy on CG world.. alot of people are good .. and sometimes the only different is the years of experince .. thats why i feel that i cannt share my cards for free


my company didnt take the job .. because of another studio in lebanon ,,
and if i were on the other side .. i'd love to c how firas(me) did the character.

You're completely wrong. Sharing would help you to develop better and keeping the knwoledge for yourself will not stop your rivals. They should find the solution of all issues during the research process, soon or later.
You'll only hurt yourself by that.

Yes, companies keep their Research and development ( R&D) secrets but one time published it will be better to describe it for others. Look how real pros share their knowledges in the Siggraph Papers !!
I wonder how we could move forward if we still think this way.

oneday i'll publishe those tips, but this comes step by step

its simple, knowledge & experince = money

first step will be earning money, second step will be publishing for free over the net, but till that time one should hide more advanced tips

and going on like this.

jschleifer, wont give GOLUM rigging tips till he make better one! ok
even on Siggraph, they show excellent researchs, but make sure that those researchs are not there endpoint

is it the competition in the arab cg world
or internationally

they both have an enormous amount of super powerful learning resources
to name a few, the gnomon dvd ,alias dvds, books like maya secrets of the pros and much more.

My point is:
I agree with u 100% about making a book or something like that
If the reason was spreading knowledge and why not making money in the process
But if the reason is hiding knowledge unless there is money
That just makes it super uncool

Like I said it’s the principle that I don’t like

u r wrong in that, there r lots of projects that my company lost because of European competing.. its price&quality equation


i am not hiding knowledge .. but its all about competion & busniss

and one the the worst things in my carrier is the few amount of prof people in the region..

maybe i was lucky to work with best people in Jordan 8 years ago, and i learn from them.
