In this tutorial I'm gonna cover a post effect called highlight
glow or specular bloom (maybe there are other names for it, who knows)
Step 1:
Open your untouched image into Photoshop then press Ctrl+J (duplicate layer)
We wanna give it some contrast so go to Image>Adjust>Brightness/Contrast
Set Brightness to 5 and Contrast to 15.
Step 2:
Now go to the Select menu, open Color Range...
On the Select menu select Highlights and click Ok
A selection has been made, hit Ctrl+C (copy) and the Ctrl+V (paste)
A new layer is now made with the highlights from your image, name this layer "Highlights"
Step 3:
Now select the Highlights layer and lock it's transparency.
From the color picker choose white or light yellow or orange
(depending on the feel of your image) for the forground color.
Now hit Alt + BackSpace (Fill with foreground color).
Step 4:
With the Highlight layer selected unlock tranparency.
Go to the filter menu Blur>Gaussain Blur give it a value of 10.
Step 5:
Set the Highlights layer transfer mode to Overlay or Lighten and it's Opacity to 55
Flatten image and you are done!
