Module 11: Mental Ray Concepts: Shaders, Lights, Shadows, and Cameras
In this module, you will be introduced to the basics of shaders, lights, shadows, and cameras in Mental Ray. You will learn about several different kinds of shaders including surface shaders. You will see the effects of casting lights on objects of different opacity and you will learn about ray traced shadows. You will also learn how different camera shaders such as lens shaders and depth of field shaders affect images in different ways. # Module 12: ProBoolean in Architectural Design
In this e-course, you will learn how to use Pro Boolean to build an architectural model. You will use Pro Boolean operations to build a temple, using various union and subtraction methods in conjunction with simple 3ds Max modeling techniques such as primitives and extrusions. Pro Boolean is the perfect companion for architectural design, especially when that architecture includes decorative elements and moldings that are harder to build using conventional polygonal modeling methods.
Module 13: ProBoolean in Mechanical Design
In this e-course, you will use Pro Boolean operations to build a wrench. You will use simple 3ds Max modeling techniques such as extrusions, bevels and simple primitives to create the parts that you will later combine together using Pro Boolean. Mechanical objects make good use of boolean operations as they are often a combination of multiple parts that are added or subtracted from one another.
Module 14: Slicing with ProCutter
In this e-course, you will learn how to use ProCutter. ProCutter is a slicing tool that allows you to cut objects into pieces using non-planar slicing planes, usually in the form of extruded splines. You will use ProCutter to slice through a glass window and turn that object into multiple pieces. You will then use Reactor to shatter the glass window with the help of the Fracture tool.
Module 15: mental ray Concepts: Volumetric Effects, Motion Blur, and Contours
This pre-release module will introduce you to the basics of volumetric effects, motion blur, and contours. You will see the impact of volumetric effects. You will learn about motion blur and how to use it effectively. You will also be introduced to the flexible contours feature for non-photorealistic renderings.
